Multi-media artist Justin Beller is known for work that represents both the physicality of space and the metaphysics of dreamlike states. In his paintings, wall installations and plinth-like towers, he uses vertical and horizontal lines, blocks of colors and repeating circles to distill the essence of earth, sky and water and to open closed interior surroundings.

Frequently commissioned by private collectors as well as corporate and small businesses, Justin maintains a one-man studio in Benson, one of Omaha’s fastest expanding arts districts.

Friday, June 1st for First Friday Old Market! William Holland will be displaying work at Curbside Clothing from 6pm - 9pm!

 Featured on many album covers, magazines, t-shirts, fliers and more, the ink and watercolor art of William Holland has brought him into the spotlight. Most visual artists in the Midwest are classically trained, and specialize in the more traditional methods. Holland has done nothing of the sort. Instead, he has taken tried and tested mediums and developed a style all his own, a style not only surreal, but often going against the very grain of the Midwest.

Touching on subjects from personal history, inspiration, and development tools, here is a peek into the Creative Mind of Gerard Pefung.

I feel the main function of the artist should be that of a channel, from which creativity can flow into this world. There are stages to the creative process which involve mental conceptualization and technical problem solving but, I feel like something artistically pure is happening when I'm not really doing the art but the art is just happening through me. I think the peak of being an artist comes when one really isn't the artist at all, but is more of an openness, an opening for something of beauty to pour into this world through. My main goal while making art is to, for the most part stay out of the way mentally and let the creative force do what it does best, create. In this way the art becomes meaningful, the actual subject matter is secondary, the energy put into the art is primary. The energy put into the art is the energy that flows back out and into the observer. So for the sake of producing art of true beauty and value that brings joy to the viewer I will try to keep my frustrations and bad attitudes out of the picture so that I may bring forth works imbued with something that some might call "sacred," or at least "cool."

Survivors model will to live

Her head was shaved like a boot camp Marine and an 8-inch scar cut across the top. Her weight had ballooned from 145 pounds to 200. Dark hair sprouted like a mustache above her lip.

Heather Roberts will tell you she was no beauty queen while undergoing cancer treatments three years ago. She'll even tell you — using a description that reveals her humor — that she looked a bit like a "troll."

Face FWD is an exhibit with the mission of raising community awareness and freedom of speech in Cameroon. Gerard Pefung came to this country in 2001 with a dream that is all but impossible to reach in his homeland. Since arriving, Pefung has established himself as an emerging artist throughout the local art community. He has spent the past 3 years mentoring Omaha area youth. Through his production of street art, Pefung has become an advocate of positive self expression. This, in turn, has helped empower and inspire creativity throughout the community.

The U.S. Embassy and the Cameroon government have agreed to allow Gerard to work with local artists and citizens of Cameroon to mobilize the power of street art to help change the way people think and live.

The pieces created for this exhibit document Gerard's creative process from it's earliest inception. The show will consist of 200 sketches. These sketches are the catalyst from which he develops his finished paintings. The process is one of free flow and instinct in which intuition is the guiding tool. The result is genuine, untainted expression.

Pefung's art is the art of the oppressed and the under privileged.
